Qualifying as an investor
Under the requirements of the Ontario Securities Commision, you must qualify as an accredited investor in order to invest with us. This means that you may invest if you conform with one of the following requirements:
- Your net income before taxes has been at least $200,000 — or you and your spouse’s combined net income has been $300,000 — for each of the last two calendar years, and you expect your income to remain above that level this year.
- Or you (alone or with your spouse) own financial assets (cash, securities, insurance contracts, and deposit contracts) worth more than $1,000,000 — or net assets of at least $5,000,000.
- Or, you are otherwise recognized as an accredited investor by the Ontario Securities Commision. Financial institutions, pension and trust funds, registered charities, etc may also qualify.
You do not need to disclose any of your financial records to us. As part of the documentation for your investment, we will simply ask you to sign a statement warranting that you qualify as an accredited investor.
